Explore the remarkable George Craig collection of Melanesian tribal arts, with a focus on artefacts from the Southern Gulf Region of Papua New Guinea, where he lived for 18 years.

George Craig is the founder and owner of Marineland Melanesia. Many of the pieces of oceanic art and sculptures you will see during your visit, were collected by George, during his many years spent travelling up and down the Fly River, and other more remote rivers in Papua New Guinea, in the 1950s to 1970s. His name is intrinsically linked with oceanic art and pieces from his collection are showcased in museums and private collections around the world. At Marineland Melanesia we display some his pieces in our museum rooms, as well as various locations throughout our jungle garden setting.

We are located on Green Island, in the beautiful Great Barrier Reef, just a short boat ride from Cairns and five minute stroll from the Green Island jetty.

Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat is open 7 days a week, from 9am to 4pm. Your admission ticket provides you with entry throughout the day, so you can come and go as you please.
